JAN 29 Mission Park Greenway
These pictures were taken along the latest addition to the Mission Park Greenway whichi is a hiking trail that follows Mission Creek from Okanagan Lake back into the hills for several miles. This creek is the largest creek entering Lake Okanagan and is part of the Big White watershed. It reaches it's peak runoff in mid to late May depending on the temp at higher levels
Looking down into the canyon from part way up the rim
In the '70s a suspension bridge was installed as a tourist attraction over the canyon. Due to poor eng'g it flipped over during a gust of wind and a young boy fell to his death in the canyon below. The bridge was dismantled a short time later
This shows one of the overhanging outcrops of rock that the trail goes under
Some hoodoos in the early stages of their formation along the creek banks.
Looking down into Gallaghers Canyon. Around the turn of the century the Chinese hydrauliched gold along the river. There is still a cave near the waters edge where the ceiling is covered with soot from the fires used to smelt the gold

JAN 28 Traders Cove Located about 20 minutes from Kelowna on the Westside of Okanagan Lake and a favourite weekend moorage spot for local boaters
Construction of the new floating sections for the future bridge (hwy.97) crossing Okanagan Lake. These sections will be floated down the lake to the bridge site
Going up Bear Lake Rd. to where the previous pictures were taken. Note the pictures of Traders Cove and the snow scenes were all taken within an hour of each other but the higher elevation is the difference between the lakeshore which is dry and the snow about 1,000 feet higher
